With the only other location in Houston, Max’s isn’t just another corporate extension of a well oiled machine. In fact, its about as far away from corporate in its mantra as you can get with the slogan “Fried Chicken and Champagne, why the hell not” branded on its homepage.

Newcomer Max’s Wine Dive is sassy blend of casual and upscale. With an extensive wine menu they definitely cater to an urban crowd. However, the menu screams of good old fashioned home cooking and the staff comes dressed in jeans and tight tee shirts. Throw in a very polished effort from the kitchen and you’ve got a combination that is definitely unique to the area. By that we mean the convention center district and Austin in general!
The Menu at Max’s Wine Dive AustinHere’s where it gets colorful. Someone ordered for us and we started out with wild-harvested gator bites…because who wants to eat farm raised gator? That was coupled with Nacho Mama’s Oysters where the “nacho mama” means fried and on won tons with aioli and habanero. Those were followed with an order Chicken Fried Chicken that some say is theirsignature dish and Shrimp n Grits. Max’s definitely caters to the culinary cavalier! And if you’re date isn’t overly adventurous…well, that’s nothing a few glasses of great wine can’t remedy. We definitely suggest you put Max’s Wine Dive on your downtown Austin radar.
