About About the New York Mets

The New York Mets are based in the borough of Queens, founded in 1962 they have called several stadiums home, but as of 2009 Citi Field is the teams new home stadium. The Mets have the most (4) World Series appearances of any other expansion team in Major league history, the team has won two of those world series championship games. They became known as the "Miracle Mets" after their defeat against the highly favored Baltimore Orioles in 1969 when they caused one of the biggest upsets in World Series history. The teams second defeat was against the Boston Red Sox in 1986.
The New York Mets have made Major League history in more than one occasion, they have made 4 appearances at the World Series, more than any other expansion team. The team also held onto the New York baseball attendance record for 29 years, breaking their own record five times during that period. Most recently the Mets made history when Jason Isringhausen converted his 300th Save with the team, making him the third player to reach that milestone, also in 2012 José Reyes became the first Met to win a National League batting title with a .337 batting average.
