About About The Book of Mormon Broadway Musical

The Book of Mormon Broadway musical, winner of nine Tony Awards, is a religious satire musical created by the maker of South Park and Avenue Q. It follows the tale of two Mormon missionaries who are sent to Uganda to share their scriptures, but a successful mission might not be as easy as they expected where a cruel warlord is threatening the local population and the society is plagued by AIDS, poverty, and famine. The Book of Mormon Broadway musical is an old style musical that jokingly pokes fun at religion, sexuality, poverty, and race and features various show stopping song and dance numbers.

After premiering in March 2011 The Book of Mormon Broadway musical set a new sales record for the Eugene O' Neil Theater and was continuously one of the top five selling shows on Broadway in its first year. Winner of several awards it has received nine Tony Awards including Best Musical, Best Original Score, Best Scenic Design of a Musical, and Best Lighting Design of a Musical. As well as Drama Desk Awards for Outstanding Musical, Outstanding Lyrics, and Outstanding Orchestration, it is also a candidate for for Best Musical Theater Album at the Grammy Awards.
